Freudenberg-NOK Sealing Technologies Acquires Seal Aftermarket Products (SAP), Strengthening the Corteco Division

November 6, 2024, Plymouth, MI. — Freudenberg-NOK Sealing Technologies, the driving force behind Freudenberg Sealing Technologies' operations in the Americas, has officially acquired Seal Aftermarket Products (SAP), LLC, a Florida-based company specializing in automotive transmission kits and components. This strategic acquisition will integrate SAP into the Freudenberg Sealing Technologies’ automotive aftermarket division, Corteco.  This integration will benefit the product portfolio for Corteco's sister brand, TransTec.

With SAP’s expertise in manufacturing and supplying a diverse range of transmission rebuild kits, hard parts, electronic products, and specialty tools, this acquisition reinforces Corteco's commitment to serving the Independent Automotive Aftermarket. Additionally, SAP’s reputable brands, including Toledo Trans-Kits™ (TTK), will continue under the new ownership, broadening the product selection available to customers.

A Global Growth Strategy

“This acquisition expands our portfolio and bolsters our global footprint in the transmission repair market,” said Christian Dickopf, Senior Vice President of Freudenberg Sealing Technologies’ Corteco Division. “Strategic investments like this help us better reach new and existing customers with a comprehensive line of aftermarket solutions.”

The integration of SAP will allow Corteco to strengthen its position in the North American market while broadening its competitive reach. Both TransTec and TTK brands are well-regarded for their reliability and performance, and under Freudenberg Sealing Technologies, they will bring even more value to the transmission aftermarket.

Complementary Strengths for a Stronger Aftermarket Solution

According to Chris Petronella, Vice President of Corteco North America, the acquisition represents an ideal synergy. “With TransTec and TTK now part of the same family, we can enhance both brands by leveraging their individual strengths,” he said. While TransTec focuses on aftermarket sealing products such as gaskets and specialty sealing components, TTK adds expertise in hard steel transmission components, including clutches, drum assemblies, and valve assemblies. Together, the brands offer a full spectrum of aftermarket solutions that meet the diverse needs of automotive professionals.

Commitment to the Aftermarket's Future

As Freudenberg Sealing Technologies continues to innovate and expand, Dickopf emphasizes the importance of supporting the aftermarket segment for traditional internal combustion engines. “This acquisition aligns with our long-term commitment to the aftermarket, a sector that remains essential as many regions continue to rely on older vehicles," he said.
